Andrew Gross*
I was born on April 12, 1929 in Gradia Romania to Marton (b.1889 d. 1944) and Nona (b. 1900 d. 1944) Gross.

In March, 1944, the Germans invaded Hungary. The destruction that they had visited upon the Jews in Poland over a period of four years, they managed to inflict upon the Jews in Hungary in only four months with the active participation of the Hungarian people.
My parents and I were sent to Auschwitz, where my parents were exterminated. I, being
fifteen years old, was sent to the children's barracks. I heard that the children
were also being exterminated, so I escaped to an adult barrack and was not discovered.
